A poster exhibition entitled HEREND 200 opened in front of the Hungarian Academy of Arts’ Andrássy street office building in Budapest on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory.
The poster exhibition presents the history of Herend porcelain, its artistic and architectural connections, and the Manufactory’s defining creators.
Attila Turi, President of the Academy, emphasized at the opening that the relationship between the Herend Porcelain Manufactory and the Hungarian Academy of Arts goes beyond institutional cooperation and is rooted in the shared values of Hungarian creativity, craft traditions, and national identity.
Dr. Attila Simon, CEO of Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd., emphasized that the Manufactory’s mission is not only to produce quality porcelain, but also to popularize the profession and pass on applied arts traditions. He recalled that world’s fairs played a decisive role in the international recognition of Herend porcelain. He emphasized that the Herend Porcelain Manufactory still follows the triple mission of value creation, value preservation and value transmission, and, through its exhibitions, represents not only porcelain, but also Hungary's cultural heritage both at home and abroad.
